Black Scholars' Resource Center

Mission Statement

The Black Student Resource Center (BSRC) exists to uplift and support students of African, Black, and Caribbean (ABC) descent at UC Merced by fostering a welcoming, affirming, and empowering environment. We are committed to cultivating a strong sense of belonging, cultural pride, and academic and professional success through community-building, holistic support, and intentional programming.

Rooted in the values of equity and liberation, the BSRC centers intersectionality and advocates for systemic change that addresses anti-Blackness and all forms of oppression impacting ABC students. We strive to create space for healing, joy, resistance, and leadership development while amplifying the diverse identities, histories, and voices within the African, Black, and Caribbean diaspora. Through our collective efforts, we work to ensure ABC scholars are seen, supported, and celebrated in every space they enter.
