LGBTQ+ Pride Center

Vision

The LGBTQ+ Pride Center envisions UC Merced as a campus where people of all sexualities and gender identities are affirmed, celebrated, and empowered to thrive. By fostering equity, belonging, and justice within our university community, we contribute to a broader society that fully embraces and supports the diverse lived experiences and intersecting identities of the LGBTQ+ community.

Mission

The LGBTQ+ Pride Center aims to serve the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans*, Queer, Questioning, Asexual, Intersex, Pansexual, Omnisexual, Same Gender Loving community by fostering an inclusive and affirming environment at UC Merced. The Pride Center provides students, faculty, and staff with opportunities to engage in meaningful dialogue, build community, and access resources that support their academic, personal, and social success. Through advocacy, programs, and services, the Pride Center works to increase visibility, empowerment, and a sense of belonging for individuals of diverse gender identities and sexual orientations.

Values

As the LGBTQ+ Pride Center, we value:

Respect – accepting, embracing and treating someone with human dignity and as your equal regardless of our differences

Intersectionality – the unique way our various identities come together and make us who we are

Education – sharing of knowledge, experiences and self-reflection to bring about deeper understanding

Advocacy –fighting for inclusion of rights, resources, services, and support for a community
