Meet our Fall 2024 - Spring 2025 Staff!
The Black Scholars Resource Center is comprised of student staff, also known as the Scholar Coordinators. The student staff manage the cultural space, organize events and programs that are inclusive of ABC communities, and serve as the primary point of contact to all the resource center needs.

Jaylin Doxey (She/Her/Hers)
BSRC Scholar Coordinator
My name is Jaylin Doxey. I am majoring in Critical Race and Ethnic studies with a minor in Sociology. My passion is helping people and I explored that through mentorship, advocacy and direct service. I love Jamaican food ( beef patties and oxtail with rice and peas) and I played sports in high school. I love to dance when I have free time. I am really energetic. I love meeting new people and talking. I also love my alone time. I love writing anything, whether that is creative writing, diary entries, or making stories.
Jayla Doxey (She/Her/Hers)
BSRC Scholar Coordinator
My name is Jayla. This is going to be my last year at UC Merced, and my major is sociology with a minor in psychology. I love taking pictures of myself or with friends! I am a bit shy/quiet, but promise that when I’m comfortable, I'm different.
Marlay'ja Hackett (She/Her/Hers)
BSRC Scholar Coordinator
I am a second-year Sociology major from Oakland, CA. Ever since I was a small child, I’ve felt a strong calling to help improve the lives of others. I carry that drive with me every day as I work to uplift, support, and create change in my community.
